Beauty for Trashes

Is 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. Last Sunday, for Earth Day, the church I attend decided to pick up trash as our service activity which we do every month or so. Our meeting place borders between the haves and have-nots in Lancaster City and it does not seem like the dichotomy is lessening. Instead, it almost seems like the good news and bad news are like two different pipes, pumping out news at about the same volume and speed. So, when the bow-tied mayor speaks of all the good things happening, he is being truthful. Yet, it is difficult to argue that the good outweighs the bad. It is truly Manichean.
